The vision for the Adriatic Research Institute (ARI) as a scientific research and educational organization had formed over many years from three main institutional sources, listed here in 'chronological order': the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the Berkeley Sensor and Actuator Center, and the La Jolla Microsystems Institute.  It is an attempt to create a challenging and fulfilling workplace for creative people with engineering, scientific, business, and other backgrounds and future goals.

We are a California non-profit public benefit organization, incorporated and operated under the 501(c)(3) section as a charitable scientific and educational organization.  As a 501(c)(3) organization, our overall objective is the advancement of human thought and improvement of human condition.  This objective should first be met in our very workplace environment, and then in our relationships with customers, public, and the environment.

ARI is a member organization of the Berkeley Microfabrication Laboratory Affiliates.  ARI Researchers collaborate with several Directors and students of the Berkeley Sensor and Actuator Center, researchers at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Stanford University, University of Nevada and others.
